Extended Schools Network

The Extended School service at Jubilee Primary School is a huge operation, run by Extended School Coordinator Melissa Davies-Oliveck and Extended Schools Officer Charlotte Gilbert.

We run more than 45 out-of-hours clubs, including sports (including: infant and junior gymnastics, football and cricket), skills in a range of subject areas (for example gardening, origami and maths), clubs for parents and the community (including: toddler gym, read and write with your child and empowerment for parents) and much more (Makaton, drama and choir). The clubs run before school, at lunchtime and after school- see the Clubs page more information, including clubs running during summer term 2009. We constantly review our provision and try to respond to demand by launching new clubs when possible.

A number of initiatives have been launched in 2008-09, including Happy@Home, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among parents and carers of young children. The opening of our new community centre and MUGA in September has breathed new life into breakfast club, our Reachout and our English as a Second Language (ESOL) provision.

The extended school service also works closely with the parent group Friends of Jubilee, attending regular meetings and working together to organise events such as the international evening and the winter and summer fairs.

This year we have also started a Fair Trade group, in a bid to achieve fair trade status. The group launched during Fairtrade Fortnight and took part in the international Go Bananas! event. As well as working towards Fairtrade school status, we are also applying for the International School Award.

We play an active role in the Extended Schools cluster group, which meets monthly.
