OPERA STARS!
1st July 2010
For two days this week, Jubilee children became professional performers at the Mermaid Theatre by the river Thames. Year 5 (and some Year 6s) have been rehearsing their Shadowball opera for the last few months together with Kingsmead Primary School and the performances received very complimentary reviews across the media, including in the Guardian and The Evening Standard. Read what BBC Music Magazine said here. The children enjoyed the performances hugely, and some of the background work they did will soon be uploaded to the Showcase And Achievements section.

PEOPLE OF THE WORLD DAY
12th June 2010
On Friday 11th June the school became a riot of colour and creativity as children and staff celebrated our People Of The World topic by dressing in costumes to match the country they had been studying. There were different Native American tribes, lions and other animals from the Masai's Kenyan homeland, snow leopards from Tibet, Polar Bears from the Inuet's Arctic homeland, people of the rainforest (as well as the Amazon river itself!), and kangaroos, jellyfish and poisonous spiders from Australia. Enjoys the photos below- can you guess which group of people each person has been learning about?

THE BIRDS TAKE FLIGHT!
4th June 2010
The Blue Tit chicks that have been living on the side of the Jubilee nursery last night dramatically flew from the safety of their nest into the big wide world. Kerry, our Birdcam correspondent, takes up the story:
"Over the half-term you will have seen that we were left with 6 'teenagers' who grew very quickly, with a couple of dominant ones who made sure they got most of the food. Yesterday they took it in turns to jump up to the exit before Mum and Dad came back to push them inside again. Last night before it got dark it did look as if they were getting ready to leave, and so they did, as the box this morning is empty."
Keep watching the Birdcam though, as we hope to switch soon to a camera focused on a bird feeder nearby and follow the youngsters' progress from there.
18th May 2010
Last week 33 members of year 5 and 3 staff travelled to Kench Hill in Kent for the annual school journey. They took part in lots of exciting activities, including clay modelling, environmental art, a woodland stream walk, shelter building, gardening, team games, bread-making, swimming, a bin-liner fashion show, a campfire, a trip to the seaside AND a visit to Hever Castle. Phew! After a weekend of rest they are back and eager to share their stories with the rest of the school- ask a year 5 pupil what their favourite moment was. A few photos showing what they got up to are below:

20th April 2010
Jubilee has a number of areas where wildlife can flourish, and we have recently added a bird box to one of the trees on our site. We are hoping a family of birds will decide to settle there. Even more excitingly, we have installed a webcam which is streaming live photo footage to the website. Click the link on the left of this page to see what is happening right now!
25th January 2010

Last week year 5 braved icy temperatures and a very small amount of drizzle to explore the River Lea at Springfield Park as part of their London Pride topic on rivers. You can find out more about their exciting adventures in Showcase & Achievements, where we will be posting newspaper reports about the trip and some River Lea podcasts!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
5th January 2010
Happy New Year and a Happy New Decade to all children and families of Jubilee! Here's hoping the next 12 months will be packed with fun, excitement and interest for everyone.
MORNING MA'AM!
25th November 2009
Earlier this month two year 6 pupils from Jubilee visited the 2012 Olympics site in their role as Olympic Ambassadors. They were joined by a very special visitor- the Queen! Despite not dressing in the recommended fluorescent bib, Her Royal Highness was given a tour round the construction site with Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell.

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK
19th November 2009
It is National Anti-Bullying Week this week and the theme is cyberbullying. Learning Mentors did a presentation to year 6 to raise their awareness and all children have been discussing bullying issues during the week. There is lots of sensible advice for children and parents on the Childnet website, including the SMART Rules for staying safe on the internet.
WINTER FAIR MEETING- NOVEMBER 27th
17th November 2009
We're planning a fun afternoon for the children this year, which means there's a lot of finer details to sort out - and Friends of Jubilee need your support. Please come along to the next meeting on Friday 27th November, 3.45pm and help to make it an extra special Winter Fair!
INTERNATIONAL EVENING - NOVEMBER 19th
3rd November 2009
On Thursday 19th November we are opening the school doors again for an international evening to celebrate the many different cultures and communities that make up Jubilee school. The evening, which will run from 6.30-8.30pm, will include country displays, cultural performances, food, drink and music. If you are interested in taking part or in helping out, please speak to Melissa Davies-Oliveck in Gold Class as soon as possible.
WE NEED YOUR RUBBISH!
1st October 2009
This is a reminder that our Eco-Warriors desperately need any old cereal boxes or newspapers for a variety of projects. If you can help, please bring them in on any Friday this half-term. Thank you!
WELCOME BACK! RABBITS!
17th September 2009
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Jubilee- as usual there have been a few changes around the school site over the summer. The most exciting of these may be our new rabbits who will live next to the main school entrance. For regular news check out the Bunny Blog, which Ricky and Lola will be updating themselves...
